I'm assuming that "The installation of Dell Command Update version 5.5 necessitates the prior installation of a .NET Desktop Runtime version ranging from 8.0.8 to 8.0.17." means because you already have an older version installed you will already have .Net installed, but I could be wrong.

Definitely looks like its desktop runtime and not just runtime though. Be great if it could use version  10.0.x though as version 8.0.x goes end-of-life in November.

I would think that the higher version, 10 or 11, would work - probably better. Perhaps you should install DCU 5.6 while you're at it.

The requirement for .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.8 or higher is for DCU 5.6 Universal and Classic.

If I install .NET Desktop Runtime 10.0.1 then try to install DCU, the DCU install will fail saying 'Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0 with versions greater than 8.0.7 (x64) needs to be installed for this installation to continue'

I understand you can more than one .Net installed on a given system. If that's correct have 8.x and 10.x installed prior to your install of DCU, preferably 5.6. Should work.

That's correct, you can have multiple different versions of desktop runtime and runtime on the system. Unfortunately the more versions you have installed the more vulnerabilities it introduces and the more software to keep up to date. 8.0.x goes out of support in a few months so that's why it would be great to be able to only use .net 10.0.x.

I understand. I would think that Dell will come out with a version of DCU that will work with .Net 10 by that time but yes that's months away. Thanks for the education and sorry for the lacklustre attempt at an answer.
