Dell installed McAfee subscription

I just got a notice from McAfee that my trial Dell installed subscription has ended.  I bought Mcafee from a computer store and want to do the installation myself, however after reading some posts on this forum it does'nt seem to be straight forward as some have had problems unistalling the Dell version.
Is there are member here that can direct me on just how to go about uninstalling the present Dell version and installing McAfee's store bought CD version?
Much appreciated.
Thanks

Check Add/Remove programs and uninstall the trail version and then install the retail version.

This link may help if you have a problem uninstalling the trail version.

If you read the posting, it is preinstalled with Dell systems on a trail basis.

Your right,it was pre-installed on my computer for a 3 month trial period.
I have un-installed Dell's installation version, and installed my own store
    bought version.
     Everything installed just fine.
    Thanks

Mcafee stinks. I suggest bitdefender or avast.

Yes, I think we got the message about McAfee and the issues individuals are having, but it does not take away from the fact that the issue posted here has been resolved.

I personally have Computer Associates EZ-Trust Security Suite and have never had any issues like those who have McAfee or even Norton.  Then again it is all up to personal taste on what anti-virus program is the best.
