Are you talking about sales quotes? Dell sales quotes are given by sales reps over the phone. Sometimes, they can be used to get a lower price than the regular online price. Then, you can use the quote online to buy the system for the price that the salesperson quoted.
Well, it's not guaranteed to be less. On newer systems, it's really hard to get a low quote without taking options away. On older systems, they can take a little bit away from the price.
Anyway, what you do is this:
1. Call Dell sales
2. Tell them you want a quote on a system
3. If you know what system you want and what options you want, tell them this
4. They will configure it for you and they will give you a quote. You can ask them if they can do anything to make it lower. Sometimes they can, sometimes they can't
5. Ask them to e-mail the quote to you. You can then click the link in the e-mail and purchase the product at the price the salesperson quoted.
Yes, you still get to configure the system the way you want.
