Since updating to Windows 7, every time I start my laptop (XPS 1340), the Dell Windows Update Assistant starts up. If I hit "next", I get a warning of an "exception" problem. I can continue or cancel. If I continue, it just sits there. If I cancel, things are fine but, it will pop up the next time I start my laptop. I cannot find it in my programs to uninstall. So, now what?
This may be a really dumb question, but have you taken the upgrade disc out of the drive? It is possible that if the disc is in the drive it will start the program on each reboot. Also have you looked at your start-up programs to see if it is configured to run there?
hahahahaha.....I am not THAT bad! I found it. It was buried in my hard drive in a hidden folder. I deleted it and it is not coming back. I tried to reinstall from the disc and got the same error. So, I guess I will leave it.
