Digital Line Detect

I have digital line detect in my startup menu.  Is this necessary?  I set up profiles for my family and whenever I go to my sons identity, it brings up my internet connection because of this.  How do I turn this off?  Thanks to anyone who can help!

DLD detects if your dial-up or fax modem (not broadband modem) is connected to a digital phone line, which can damage.  If you are sure your modem won't be connected to such lines, you can remove it from the Startup folder in your Start Menu.

PS.  In addition, Windows provides a tool called MSCONFIG which includes a section on managing startup applications such as DLD.
