My 4300 has decides to not boot. I can get to the bios setup and I have reset the bios but when I boot I get past the splash screen and just get a blinking coursor on the upper right of the screen. The computer was working fine one day and the next it would not boot. I have removed all cards, re seated the memory and reconnected all devices. Any ideas? Thanks,
I cannot get to that point to use the F8 option. The Dell screen comes up which will allow me to use the F2 or F12 option. I can get into the bios and save changes. I might also add that the four lights on the back of the system are all green. I did reset the bios and I did see the screen were the system was detecting my IDE devices. Thanks,
First of all, do you have a printer hooked up? If so, remove it then reboot. Have you tried to reset the CMOS? What about removing all external peripherals? Removed all other boot devices in the boot sequence in BIOS? What is your SATA operation in BIOS? If it's SATA AHCI try SATA Auto detect. Ran Dell Diagnostics from F12 menu, found anything? If it found HDD error, run fixboot, fixmbr and chkdsk /r from the recovery console when booting from Windows XP CD. If that doesn't work then either HDD failure or your motherboard is faulty.
