Disabling Passwords in older computer

I have a dimension L600r computer with Win98SE that used to be the host computer on my Home network.  I have moved it to  take the place of the slave computer (which crashed) into my wife's sewing room.  I want my i8600 to be the host computer now.  Too much time has passed during all this changeover, and I can't remember the old password.  How can I disable the passwords on the dimension, to set it up for my wife's use?

    Al Neighbors,

If you are referring to a BIOS password you can erase it by changing the system board configuration jumper to maintenance mode and restarting the computer, as shown here.

Denny, It isn't in the Bios, it's the windows password.  I can get into Windows, but I'm trying to set up a network that used to work before I changed computers.  And this dimension with Windows 98SE won't let me get into it as Administrator, to set up the network connections, or to run the network setup wizard from my XP CD or floppy either.

How can I get it to believe I am the Administrator?  I won it.  It's mine.  In my House.  I paid for it.  It used to be the host computer, and now it is (I hope) going to be the client computer.  Thanks, AL

    Al Neighbors,

See if deleting the password file (*.pwl) removes the password and lets you start fresh.

Thanks, Denny, I'll give it a try, and let you know.  I can't do it until tomorrow, or really late tonight.  Mama's using her computer in the sewing room.  AL
