Exiting Standby Failure

I cannot exit standby by moving the mouse or typing on the keyboard. I have a wireless mouse and keyboard with a new 8300. The only way to exit standby is to press the power button.

    George L1,

Standby (and hibernate and sleep) are notoriously unreliable modes of operation on desktop computers. While they make work for a time eventually they normally fail with a variety of symptoms, one of which you are experiencing. Your best bet is to set those modes to "Never" in Power Options and just set your hard drive and monitor to power down after a period of inactivity you choose.

Thanks. I won't worry about it. Supposedly Microsoft fixed this in service pack 1. Maybe they will fix it in service pack 2.
