Formatting hard drive
In the past when I formatted a hard drive I had a boot disk (floppy) to get started with. I need to format my laptop and reinstall windows XP on it. After formatting, will I be able to read the CD and load XP? Do the CD drivers exist in the bios or will I be dead in the water in trying to reload?

Thank you! Excellent thread on installing XP. I have a latitude 750mhz PIII. I am going to give it to my daughter and want to wipe it clean and reload windows XP on it and let them use it for what they want. It has a smallish hard drive of only 9 gig. I believe they want to load Delorme's Street Atlas on it for travel with a gps.Thanks again for the response..
