I downloaded the latest security patches from Microsoft, (4 in all), and right after that, whenever I would click on the down arrow in the address bar of internet explorer, ie would then lockup on my Dimension 8300.

 

I finally discovered that when I removed the KB908531 update, everything works fine. Thinking I found the problem and assuming it was something to do with the update, I was quickly discouraged to find that my Dimension 2400 has all 4 updates which includes the KB908531 and it has no problems at all.

 

I have removed and downloaded the file several times and it still causes problems on the 8300. Does anyone have any idea what the difference may be for it to work on one and not the other? I have ran scandisk, disabled virus protection, checked for spyware, and made sure all the other updates were current.

 

Any idea on what to check next?
