interace not registered

OK,
First off I must say I have never had so many issues with a pc in my life. I got a new 310 with XP media and at first absolutely loved it. Now everyday there's a new problem.  Todays problem is my mp3 collection. I spent hours ripping cds, organizing them thru media player and today when I try to open a song I get an error message that says " Interface not registered" All the icons have gone from the media player to an unknown icon. If I double click a song I get the old "what program do you want to open the file with" instead of just opening and playing. I choose media player and it plays no problem.   What went wrong? anybody have a clue.
   Thanks for any response.

Microsoft recommends reinstalling WMP or upgrading to the latest version.

Remove and install.   I see that now.  As it turns out, looks like I fixed my problem. :smileyvery-happy:    I love when I figure things out myself.   All I did was select one of the files, rt click, properties, change open w/ program and it changed all files in the one folder. Sweet.   Thanks for your response.  God I love this place.  Lots of knowledgable people for us newbies to learn from.
