Microsoft XP Home

I have XP Home on my computer.  I need excel, but wanted to know if I could uninstall XP Home and find XP Professional and install that?

If your system supports XP Home, then XP Pro will run on it just fine, however, you don't need Pro for Excel.

Technicality ... you wouldn't really "uninstall" Home.  Rather, you would simply format the disk and install over the top of where Home was with Pro. ;)

In order to get Excel, you will have to purchase Microsoft Office. Excel should work with XP Home so there's no need to upgrade to XP Pro.

If you don't want to buy Microsoft Office, you could install the free Open Office which has a spreadsheet like Excel and can read/write Excel file formats . You can also use the free Google Docs spreadsheet on line. It can import Excel files and export data in Excel format.
