When I attempt to access a number of applications from Windows Explorer, I get an "Access denied" message. This happens with: Templates, Start, Send To, Print Hood, Net Hood, Local Settings, Cookies, Documents and Application Data. Documents I can get to from the Desktop. I assume this message has something to do with this ridiculous permissions thing. I have read everything I can find on 'permissions' and I still don't have any idea what it does except annoy me and shut off access to applications on
MY computer. As far as I know, all the settings remain at the default setting. If every security agency in North America has access to my applications why can't I?
If anyone knows how to correct this problem, or better yet, a method to shut off every permissions protocol (Including the log-in screen.) please let me know.
From my point of view it's simple: I may only lease Vista software but nowhere in their boilerplated acceptance form does it say that I will be denied access to portions of this leased software except, of course, for their source code. I detest some dumbell machine telling me I need permission for anything...if this were a car the engine block would be full of holes!
I read the info & comments and this looks like a winner. I am moving the first of the month and when I set up again I intend to wipe the HD and reinstall Vista. It's been running 6 months now and is picking up little glitches...time to clean it. I'll certainly use the info.
