Norton

How can I totaly delete Symantec's Norton from my hard drive?  Nothing I have tried will completely eliminate it.  Dodie

Some have had good luck by going to the Nortons web site and following some instruction on how to get all the code off.  Others however, could not, and had to reformat, and reinstall windows.  Nortons, AOL, McAfee and some others do not play well when we want to get those programs off the system.

Someone may come along later, and tell you how to get this resolved.  My self, I said to heck with it, and just reformatted the system, but for many that is a lot of work.

You did not say which version of Norton you are trying to remove. See if this thread is of any help.

When I uninstall our Corporate edition Norton 2004 (before installing 2005) it asks for an install password, which I was able (pretty easily) to guess.

That is what I was doing. Completely removing Norton from PC. I still have to do that from time to time, being the support person for a hundred and more Dell computers. It is just that my work is in a corporate (non-profit) environment rather than home.

Probably true and what you say makes sense to me. The important thing I was told here (by immediate boss) was to do the uninstall first and re-boot. I am not impressed with Norton, McAfee and such and have much better esperience(s) with AVG, Avast and their ilk
