I use Windows XP media Centre 2005. If I select more than one file and then select File/Open (eg to open several image files), instead of the files opening, a rountine starts which asks me to selct a destination to which i want to move the files. If I cancel out of this, one of the files will be opened and then the Move routine starts for the next file. Very strange behaviour! I have done extensive scans with Norton internet Security, Adawre and Spybot Search and Destroy, none of which have detected any untoward activities.
Any ideas what is ahppening and how i might rectify it?
Hmmm - the files open when I do that! Very strange - but I now think I know what the problem is (or at least what is contributing to it.) I did a registry tweak (see
PCAnswers-Tutorial) to create COPY TO FOLDER and MOVE TO FOLDER items in context menu. Having now reversed that tweak all is back to normal.
Seems that in Windopws XP there is no gain without pain!!!!!
Thanks for your interest.
Gerry
(repeat after me: do NOT tweak the registry, do NOT tweak the registry................................)

Actually, I was thinking that you might be moving the mouse ever so slightly while clicking on one of the files and XP interpreted that as an attempt to move. But your answer was far more interesting. :smileywink:
