Outlook Express Won't Delete Individual E-Mails
I cannot delete e-mails from my OE.
The Delete button does not work, nor do any other options for deleting files. I had one e-mail that I received on 8-20-04 at 03:12 AM that would freeze OE and result in the "not responding" dilemma.
I finally deleted it through the Search function of my XP Home.
Strangely, I can delete an entire folder full of e-mails. Deleting an individual e-mail is totally unpredictable - some I can and some I can't.
When I attempt to "move to" another folder, I get an error message that says "The selected message(s) could not be moved. An error has occurred."
When I attempted to "export messages" to try to get rid of them, the error message I get says "The export could not be performed. An error occurred while initializing MAPI."
I know Service Pack 2 was auto-downloaded about 8-20-04. Any possibility of a connection with that?
I have even considered deleting OE and/or IE 6 and re-downloading them, but I can't seem to find the appropriate place from which to delete them - not even under Add/Delete Programs in the Control Panel.
Short of running my Dell restore disk (which I really do not want to do), I'm completely stumped.
Please help!

If the message which caused the problem is in your Inbox you might see if deleting Inbox.dbx in Windows Explorer will resolve the problem. When you open OE again it will generate a new Inbox. Of course, this means that any messages currently in your Inbox will be lost.
If that fails, the procedure for reinstalling Outlook Express is here.
