I have tried to perform a REPAIR on my computer but after I hit the R key it ask for a password. I consulted DELL while on line with them and they were no sure why it was asking for a password..Somehow they were able to bypass this question. Does anyone know what password they are talking about.....????? Thanks for any help
If it is a BIOS password, you will not even be able to get into the BIOS or even start to boot. Why do you think it is a BIOS password? I could tell you how to reset a BIOS password, but it is model dependant and you have not said which model computer you have.
That is definitely not a BIOS password. It is asking for the Administrator password, which is usually the null password (i.e. no password) unless someone changed it.
I stand corrected. I t may the os system...Give me a couple of days to get back home and I will give you yhe exact details..I think it ask me to insert the windows xp os disk boot it up...After I agree on licensing terms I press f8..Then it ask if I want to repair or install. When I press 'R' it then ask for a password...I plan on trying to do a repair when I get home and then I will let you know if this info is correct...Thanks for your resolve...rebelwoac.........

rebelwoac,
Are you in Windows when it's asking for the password or in the BIOS.
