Please help me with XP installation problem

I bought Inspiron 1300 a couple of days ago. I want to replace the XP home with XP pro. However, when I reboot my laptop from CDROM, the system tells me "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to my computer". And it also says something about "BIOS updates", "Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing".

Can somebody please tell what I am supposed to do?

THanks!

    hcarousel,

You are not booting from the XP CD. The error message you are receiving indicates that Windows is loading which will not happen if you boot from the CD. See this.

    Hi, Denny,

Yes, I am booting from the XP CD.

I tried that CD on other machine and it worked just fine.

One thing is the XP Home on my laptop is newer than XP pro on the CD. Would that cause such a problem?

    THanks!

If you boot from the CD, it does not matter what is on the hard drive as it is not recognized as the first boot source.
