Pop Up blocker help

I keep getting the message "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer". This has happen when viewing safe web sites such as college web site. I've tried changing the pop up setting in internet tools with no long. Would appreciate any suggestions to eliminate this message.

I am also interested in this security setting. This banner message is accompanied by a yellow logo shield with an exclamation point in it. I don't understand what I did to activate it and wish to remove or de-activate the setting, so it dosen't  appear in the first place

    goirish48,

It's more likely that what's being blocked are ActiveX controls and plugins. In Internet Explorer, under Tools/Internet Options/Security, select the "Internet" zone. Then select "Custom Level" and reset "Custom Settings" to "Medium". If that doesn't resolve the problem, set all of the "ActiveX controls and plugins" settings to "Prompt".

One of the distinguishing items about this frustrating security pop-up is the unidentifiable yellow shield icon. Also, unless you click on the options and actively select "Allow...." and its follow-up permission message box this default is blocking me from siging on to anything from my Yahoo email account to ebay! Thank you for your suggestions Jim, but none of it works in either removing the pop-up or deactivating the security status that prompts it. Anybody else have a suggestion??

    mjsf49,

When the information bar appears, click it and select "Information bar help." A window will open which will give you the options available to you to deal with the information bar.

    Denny-
Thanks for the advice. There are no answers or applicable solutions on that site to prevent the security banner in the first place. It only deals with the issue after the fact. I am seeking an answer to how it got on there and how do I get rid opf it ,permanently. Let me clarify, this banner is not a pop-up issue, it is a preventative content security alert. It is showing on all primary internet site windows and is blocking sign-in capabilities and linking, unless cleared per site. As stated in the original thread the message reads, "To help protect your security, Internet Explore has restricted this file from showing active content that could harm your computer. Click here for options..."  When you click for options you arrive at the choice you mentioned with no resolve to removing the banner, even when you do as the help site suggests in altering your Internet Options Security levels.

    mjsf49,

The only way I am aware of to remove the bar is to uninstall SP2, which is what installed it in the first place.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a box with SP2 installed to test settings.
    Can offer a workaround:
