Protect error Windows 98SE NL

Hi,

I have got the following situation:

I've installed a demo of FIFA 2005 on a computer with Windows 98SE (Dimension 4100).
During the installation of this demo I got the famous Blue Screen. After pushing the enter-button the installation went on but I got a failure message after the installation. I had to restart the computer.

After restarting I got the message 'Protecting error Windows, please restart'. There was no further information and the background-color was black. I restarted the computer and I had the choice to go into Save mode. I tried to remove FIFA 2005 demo but it wouldn't start. After that I removed the map of FIFA 2005 demo, the link in the startmenu and the link on the desktop and the key of FIFA 2005 demo in the register. After that I restarted the computer but I got the same message and it went again in safe mode. I tried the disk-control and control of systemfiles. It didn't help.

What's the solution???

What is the exact text of the errors that you receive? If removal of the software did not cure the problem you may be forced to format the hard drive and reinstall from scratch to cure this problem. You can try a dirty install of windows to try to cure this problem but there is no guarantee that this will fix the system or that your data will not be corrupted. You should try to save whatever data you can and prepare for the worst.

    1) Do you mean the message when the computer starts? That's 'protecting error Windows, please restart'. The message is here in dutch and freely translated (I suppose that the message is the same in english).

    2) Does a dirty install mean that I have to reinstall the network? I have a wireless network with an other computer.

I have printed a story from an other topic here about the recovery cdrom. Is the option 'recover drivers and install files' also possible?
