    1. symantec live update is the updater for your symantec product, most likely your security products. If its for your security apps then yes you need it.

    2. yes always update your apps some updates cover security issues.

    3. SearchAssist is either from yahoo or malware

    4. URL Assistant is malware

5.it does not matter both run the uninstaller for the app ;)

    Hi!

    1. if you have norton anti-virus installed on your system then you need the symantec live update. its main function is to update your norton products installed on your system.

    2. well if u want an updated adobe reader installed on ur system go for it - but there is not much difference between the two versions same FUNCTION

    3. its like google but searchassistant were embedded on ur browser

    4. same with number 3

    5. better and recommended

Yes thank you, as a rule personally I always keep my apps upto date, most companies won't scream about it but their updates do have security updates. ;)

Secunia offers a convenient on-line scanner (Software Inspector) to check a variety of commonly installed software for insecure versions that have been superceded or patched.

thanks for your replies, i regulary scan with mcafee, malwarebytes antimalware and superantispyware so i think the malware is out, its probably the dell ones.

i dont currently have any norton products but did have norton ghost on a trial when i purchased the pc from dell. i never subscribed when the free trial was up and recently deleted it. could that be the symantec live update ?
