Both are supported, but the 32-bit version is the only one supplied by Dell in the M1730. Select System in the System and Maintenance section of the Control Panel to see what version is installed.

you may be able to ask dell for a copy of HP 64-bit as they are now shipping systems with the 64-bit OS.
