Reinstall Windows XP

Reformatted a Dell Dimension 8250 and repartiationed the hard drive.  Rebootted the PC from the CD-Rom drive to reinstall Windows XP SP1 (original CD with system).  Setup and installation progressed as planned for 39 minutes and during the last step of deletion of temp files, the following error message was received in white letters on blue background:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer

KERNAL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR

Tech Info:

***STOP: 0X00000077 (0XC000000E,0XC000000E, 0X00000000, 0X001DE000)

Do I need to request new installation CDs from Dell?

Try the install again on a fresh partition.

Currently 0-for-2 with a thorough repartition and 0-for-1 with a quick repartition.

I think you are dealing with a defective hard drive or bad IDE cable.
