Same Windows Update Notification Keeps Recurring

I have the same problem with a repeated update notification that was discussed here:

I have followed the advice of "tomron" which was offered as a solution but without success.    The  offending update is KB936181 which I have repeatedly tried to install, but it keeps on returning.     Please can anyone offer any other advice, believe me I have tried many othe references without success.

This is a known issue with some versions of Kodak software, if you have any Kodak software, uninstall it, see if the issue goes away.

Upgrade to the latest Kodak software.

Thanks mombodog for your reply.     I have already installed the latest version of the Kodak software which I use with my video camera but I still have the original Kodak disk, so I may re-load the original software which never gave me any problem with the Windows updates.

To mombodog: I have found a further reference to this problem here:

However, I have not yet looked at the various entries, there are 69, but it may be worthwhile for others to look at since it refers to a specific update (KB936181), which keeps recurring on my computer even though it is already downloaded and installed.

I looked at some of the messages that I referred to in my last post and now I seem to have solved the problem.     I did try several suggestions but the successful one was the simplest - use Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs, make sure that the Show Updates button is ticked, and then scroll to the offending update and remove it - then exit the Control Panel.      Now make sure that Automatic Updates is selected for Windows, close the computer and re-boot.      On completion the update is downloaded and reinstalled.

Since carrying out this process the offending update as not (yet) tried to return.

Who would think to try the obvious, :smileyvery-happy:  Glad it is solved.
