Severe. CE Applications Manager Error Message

My Dell Dimension runs windows XP. Each time I try to load a progamme via the cd drive, I get the above message advising me that I do not have CE applications manager software.

This is a little beyond my computer skills, can anyone offer any advice or assistance?

You cannot run programs directly from your cd drive. You must install the program first. Compact Edition (actually I think it's Customized Embedded) Apps Mgr is for handheld computers which require a smaller embedded version of Windows XP. Start Windows, put the program cd in the drive and follow the installation directions. Note that some old Win 95 programs that run from the cd will not run on XP sp2 and cannot be installed.

Mary, I am somewhat confused. The cd I am trying to load up is some Navigation software for my PDA.

Exactly what do I do? I am not getting any installation instructions....just the eroor message.

WindowsCE is probably the OS of your PDA. It is not the same as XP. Are you sure that the software you are trying to install is meant to go on your indows XP PC? I don't have a PDA, so can't help you directly, but maybe this site has some infro

If you google for Windows CE, there many other sites.
