I made the mistake of installing SP2. The result is that after this my Bluetooth that had only one driver suddenly had 2 (the additional one being the Microsoft Bluetooth enumerator) and the D600 just kept telling me that there was a USB unrecognized device. It did this every few minutes.
I saw in the DELL site the problems with SP2 so I un-installed it and downloaded the R82522.exe file from Dell. Installed it as well.
Now the Bluetooth still does not start and tell me the device is not present or could not be recognised.
I think I need some serious help here.
Any suggestions?
Oh forgot to say that after that I un-installed also the R82522 and now the computer asks me for the Dell TrueMobile Bluetooth Module.
Is the the Dell TrueMobile 300 Bluetooth Module covered by R82522 or not?
I am starting seriously to restart my D600 from scratch re-installing everything.
As I understood it before installing SP2 you had other drivers for the bluetooth, which you have now uninstalled. That would make the reinstall of SP2 different from the first time? If you haven't uninstalled those other drivers, that is what I suggested you do before installing SP2.
If you install SP2 and get unknown device as well as your bluetooth device in device manager uninstall both of those and reboot. Then Windows should find your bluetooth device
I left my laptop on Windows XP SP1 just to avoid the problems with XP SP2 and the Dell driver software R82522. I formatted my Windows XP Pro twice to eliminate the Windows XP SP2 because the DELL Bluetooth offers more functionality. The fix R82522 doesn't work with Windows XP SP2, it says the Bluetooth radio is turned off after installing Windows XP SP2. I tried to uninstall the Windows Bluetooth to give the Dell drivers control, but every attempt failed.
When installing R82522 Windows Installer, running under Windows XP SP2, says that the software being installed hasn't passed windows testing and isn't approved - Cancel or Install anyway? I issued the Cancel command and the Dell software kept installing anyway.

Not correct. I have XP Pro SP2 installed on my XPS and have used both the TM300 and (currently) the TM350 in it. When I upgraded to SP2 from SP1 I removed the BT module before reformatting and reinstalling the OS - using a SP2 slipstream install CD. Only after completely configuring my notebook did I reinstall the TM300 and install the (Widcomm) drivers - and yes, I had to uninstall the M$ BT drivers first.
Note: I did not use: R82522.exe (A05 stack only) but used R77162.exe (A05 bios update and A05 stack) with my TM300. When Dell originally issued the A05 update it included an embedded bios update. What happened when people ran the update is that it launched both the driver install and the BT bios update at the same time. The bios update can require 20 to 30 minutes to complete. It is very slow. Many people selected to reboot the notebook after the driver installation had completed - unaware of the bios update running in the background. This terminated the bios update and corrupted the BT module. The original A05 driver update was badly designed. The proper action was to cancel the reboot and wait for the bios update to complete, then reboot.
I don't know if the A05 (stack only) driver has problems, but if anyone wants the original R77162.exe for their TM300 let me know. It is a 20.6 MB file. I'll consider uploading it to my home page. If you screw up and damage your TM300 - don't look to me for answers.
Having just the same issue, I contacted Dell Uk with the problem. Within a few moments, the service person advised me that I required a new motherboard, which they are replacing tommorow! Hope this helps!

SP2 has native bluetooth drivers. I would use those. Reinstall SP2, it should then find your device.
Maybe this would help.
