I have a new Inspiron 530 running Vista 32-bit and am having problems when I play music. It happens both in Windows Media Player and in AOL Radio. Periodically the music will stutter. I've tried installing new drivers and checking the "disable all enhancements" box in the sound device, but that doesn't seem to help. Any other ideas?
My sister is having the exact same problem. Same model too. I was on the support chat for over 3 hours last night, and the guy said there was an issue with the discs (which I don't believe), just because 1 disc played fine. About 5 others didn't play fine. A DVD played fine. So, I'm thinking it has to do with the audio software.
Stuttering when playing CD/DVD media can be caused if the CD/DVD drive(s) are operating in PIO mode instead of DMA mode. There have also been some firmware updates to drives, again if it's playing music from CD/DVD media. If this is the case, repost on the Desktop CD/DVD section so the experts there can assist you.
There have been other stuttering problems with some Dell's but they have mostly been with older Dell's, not the new or newer models. There are "chipset" drivers and a reinstall of those may help.
