New fully optioned 9200 - can't use because of incompatibility of programs with Vista. Want action Dell - please advise how I can get the XP Pro Recovery Disk which Microsoft has agreed you can make available for Vista Ultimate and Business editions. Sick of the way sycophants keep hosing down this issue on this Forum (yes and I include you Microsoft-sycophant BlueScreen of Death - your posting signature is not funny). Lets look at what they are not telling us -
Bowing to pressure from customers and computer makers, Microsoft plans to keep Windows XP around a little longer.
Large PC manufacturers were slated to have to stop selling XP after January 31. However, they have successfully lobbied Microsoft to allow them to continue selling PCs with all flavors of Windows XP preloaded until June 30, a further five months. Microsoft also plans to keep XP on retail shelves longer and will allow computer makers in emerging markets to build machines with Windows XP Starter Edition until June 2010.
With Microsoft's blessing PC makers have launched programs that allow new PC buyers to downgrade their Vista Business and Vista Ultimate machines to Windows XP.
In April, Dell acknowledged continued XP demand and resumed offering XP as an option on new systems. In July, Microsoft chief financial officer Chris Liddell ratcheted up the percentage of OS sales the company expects XP to account for in fiscal year 2008 from 15 percent to 22 percent. Finally, in August, Microsoft announced an XP Service Pack 2c release that does nothing more than add new Windows XP product keys so the company can keep selling the OS to businesses through January 31, 2009.
In addition, customers who purchase a Vista machine from Dell can use a vendor-supplied XP Pro Recovery Disk to replace the Vista operating system on their system with XP Pro.

Well
this list and
this list (both being continually updated) have been available even prior to Vista's release. Perhaps a little research on your part might have been prudent?

I didn't realize that indicating positive experiences with Vista makes us "Microsoft-sycophants". By the way, I think that mombodog's signature is quite humorous.
But as has been indicated to you, these forums are not staffed by Dell - rather they are users trying to help other users. Slamming those who offer experience and advice is probably not the best way to garner help for your issues.
These replies are dead right....i hate when people say Vista is no good, it doesn't work, etc....Vista works GREAT for me...i actually took the time to learn it. BTW wasn't XP the same way when it first came out...In the fast paced world of technology, we have change all around and people accept it, but the second MS comes out with a new OS (that for the most part is better than XP), then people starting acting like children. Point in case with the child who started this post.
Take care and i'll leave you with this:

Most problems with Vista are those of the Operator, not the OS. I also have had no real problems with Vista on both a new machine and an upgrade. Minor problems were all my fault. Vista has been very good at protecting me from myself!
Many older programs will run fine as is or in compatibility mode. I'm sure that there is hardware out there that will never have a Vista driver written for it. Driver updates are up the the hardware manufacturer, not MS or Dell. I had a scanner that wouldn't run with XP because of drivers - got a new one and didn't look back.
MS is adding about 500,000 new drivers in the SP1 upgrade; some have already been added in updates. A total of over 2 million drivers will cover a lot of older hardware.
