Vista - not for me.
Wow, Vista is a terrible resource hog. Makes my brand new expensive computer crawl like a turtle. Not going to put up with it, the computer is going back. I'll just get a barebones (not a dell) and load it with XP. What a shame, it's a beautiful computer. We just got used to XP and now they want us to buy something else, why? MONEY! Forcing people to learn (buy) a new O.S. every few years is ridiculous. Probably the majority of us are moderate computer users, and why Microsoft thinks we need a huge operating system that uses 90% of our computers resources is beyond me. This may be Microsofts downfall. The tide is turning, they're not the only game in town anymore. My opinion; Don't buy VISTA.

"Forcing people to learn (buy) a new O.S. every few years is ridiculous"With that same logic applied to housing, you would still be living in a Cave?applied to Cars, a horse and buggy? ect.. ect..No one is forcing you to do anything.Vista Runs just fine on my Dim 5150 that came with XP originally, all I had to do was add memory, cheap enough these days.268

Actually its not every few years. Its been around 5 years with XP, and that was absolutely too long between OS's. The next OS is coming out, if no delays are had, in about 2 years.My Vista is doing just fine, with 2 or 4 gigs of memory, depending on the Vista OS I'm running. I to like XP, but its time to move on. I have no issues with Vista, have now learned it fairly well, and plays games just fine. Should be even better once DirectX 10 code is finalized and games are written for them.

Like any company Microsoft is going to update and make new versions of their products. If they didn't we would still be using Windows 1.0. I think you've just had a bad expearence with Vista.My computer that runs Vista is far from slow like a turtle. Everything I click is pretty much instant. When a computer runs really slow it is usally because of too many processes running. If your system seems sluggish try limiting the number of startup items with msconfig.Newer versions can be good and not so good. I didn't like Windows ME but I thought XP was great. My first modern computer had Windows 98SE and I can say for sure I'm glad it's no longer the current version of Windows.All this being said I don't reccomend Vista on a older computer. If your system was designed for XP and you want Vista your best bet is to buy a new system. This is the same for any OS and not just Vista. I wouldn't install XP on my Dell Dimension M200a.268

It's always funny how people claim they are being "forced" to do something when they...by their own freel will purchased the new computer with vista on it.Why don't you take your new dell and just load XP on it?268

i'm with Mombodog - i need to come up with a money making "scam" like developing, distributing and supporting the vast percentage of computer operating systems in the world. that would be sweet.
