Awaiting my new Studio 1745 shipped from china yesterday, glee :emotion-2:
Just like to know from Dell whether I would infringe my Warranty by repartitioning my hard drive or reinstalling Win7 from external supplier other than Dell. In other words win7 professional instead of win7 premuim as installed by Dell from recovery partition. just like to have a hard copy version of windows.
Comes with Napster Memebership, might this be a problem if reinstallation wasnt from Recovery Partitiion.
Hi Dave, When you get your system, you get 12 months of warranty for your hardware, and 21 days warranty for your software. You can repartition your hard drive if you want to, and it will not affect your warranty. However, if you install another OS, then you will infringe your 21 days software warranty. In some cases, dell can ask you to reinstall the OS that came with the system, if you have an hardware problem.
Thanks for ya reply, thats good news about partitions, because 500GB drive is huge with out additional partitions.:emotion-21:
21 days warranty for your software. :emotion-3: Guess its because of what users could do with a laptop/pc in a couple months(software).
Think i Will wait on the Reinstallation, till after the 21 days. Just thought it might be easy easier to repartition using F-disk and reinstall Windows. Not keen on the idea of partitioning on the fly.
Fairly compodent about pc's/software installations...... Good to know what the situation is on warrantiestho before I ddo anything.
