which antivirus?

Is there an antivirus software that will prevent and remove spyware as well as perform the "standard" protection features.  I currently do not have any antivirus software installed and I do have a significant spyware problem. I constantly run adaware and spybot but the problems keep coming back.   Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

    Thanks Danny

Are spybot and adaware supposed to prevent spyware or just get rid of it once it is there.  Or is that what the antivirus will do?  Basically i can run the adaware ect.. but 15 min after i run it everything comes back.  Can I prevent the same "infections" (CWS for example) from coming back?

    2wig,

One such package is here. If you have Ad-aware and Spybot you don't need a package that protects against both viruses and spyware but you definitely need an antivirus program.

    Hi,

I noticed everyone chatting about Spybot Search and Destroy. I have not noticed anyone suggest Spyware Blaster. This works side by side with Spybot Search and Destroy. It works by preventing Spyware from getting onto your machine in the first place. No scanning is necessary. All that is required is to manually update the defenitions unless you donate to have the auto update feature activated. The software protects Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox browsers. to get more info and the software go here:
