You could go back and do a factory restore of Vista and then  do a upgrade to windows 7  not a clean install

everything should be a smooth transition. I did that with mine and its been working ok. I have a xps420

After upgrading from Vista to W7 64 bit I got a load of errors, BSOD's and the system locked up randomly. So I formated the machine and did a clean install. Slightly better but still loads of errors and BSOD's.

First thing to do is to  look into your logs and search for errors. That is a startingpoint to search for solution. Probably your having a lot of driver issues which has to be attended to. Connect the locking up time with the errors in the log and you are halfway finding solutions. The error IDs help you to find solutions. Search for critical errors, errors and warnings (could ID 51)

If necessary go into the device manager and check your devices/drivers. Everything OK? You could search manually for a legacy one or in some cases the old one.

Thanks, I tried that before but i got no specific errors where i can work with, I did updated all my drivers, maybe its something to do with systempro mechanic which I use as a firewall/antivirus. Since I didn't install this software I did not have any freez crashes.
