windows 7 pro reinstall
My Dell Ispiron (direct from dell) came loaded with win 7 pro, and a re-install disc for win 8.1. I immediately created two re-install discs for the factory loaded win 7 pro. A few days ago, due to many issues, I re-installed win 7 with the disc I made. I initially was able to connect to Windows Update and about 65 updates installed. After a few days of not getting any new update, clicking Win Update opened window that ran without saying no updates available, or downloading any new ones. I then began to get error messages. The first was ox80070002. Couldn't fix it. Then 0x8007002c. Finally the clincher was ox8007007b. A validation problem, I believe. I found a direct link to validate windows, which indicated I had a valid copy, but Update still won't work. I then inserted the first disc to re-install win 7 again, saving everything I wanted to an exterior dive so I could do a complete clean re-install without saving any of my files, thinking there was a virus somewhere, even though the computer seems to run great. Now those dvds won't run. There may have been files on my "D" drive that were lost. Will the activation code on the win 8.1 disc validate the win 7? I don't want to go to 8.1. I just want Win Update to work. Help!, if there is any. Thanks, Gene
