Windows Emplorer, Internet Exployer and pixel size
Tried to down load IE6 but failed. Then reinstalled the XP from Disc supplied by Dell. Everytime I try to access IE and Windows Explorer, I get a warning that McAfee has dedected a virus. Now running the virus inspector from AOL. I wonder if that program is causing the problem, Or maybe the firewall component of it. Also another problem has occur on reinstallation. The pixel size cannot be changed. I once fixed it but forgot how. Also I get two messages about hardware installation.Once is for Video Controller and the other is Intel Graphic igfxest.exe. I would invest in a new a simpler operating system but may lose my programs. I am 72 years old and therefore patient. By the way Majestic showed me how to reinstall the ethernet. I wish I knew more but maybe you fellows can help me. Bob Geist

You are a friend. It is very difficult to read because everything is too big. On What Dell disc is the driver. I cannot move the slide. Also, how do I remove the AOL firewall and if need be the virus and spyware. Things are so bad, I cannot read my AOL INBOX.116

All the reinstallation instructions for your system are in the links here. If you have a Drivers and Utilities CD the drivers will be there, otherwise you can download them through the Desktops link above the forum.
I don't know how to uninstall portions of AOL, I always recommend reinstalling all of it (or not allowing it on the computer to begin with).

After reinstalling XP you must install the drivers for your system, beginning with the chipset drivers. Your current inability to change resolution indicates that you haven't loaded the driver for your graphics adapter. If you have loaded that driver, right-click a blank space on your desktop, choose Properties, and on the Settings tab of Display Properties change the resolution using the slider. If AOL is providing antivirus protection you should disable McAfee (or vice versa). Antivirus programs conflict with one another so only one should be active at any time. The same is true of firewalls.
