I recently purchased a Dimension 9200 with WinXP.   It came with XP Home but I just upgraded to XP Pro (SP2) - not sure if that has anything to do with the problem or not.

 

I visited the WindowsUpdate site and went through a couple gyrations of updates for WindowsUpdate.   It finally showed me the list of critical updates for WinXP which I downloaded and attempted to install.   All 85 of them downloaded but failed to install.

 

The status screen seems to imply that there would be a reason following each of the updates listed as to why it would not install but there is no errors listed.    I did as it suggest and tried to install them several times and nothing works.
