Windows XP CD

Hi, I was just re-installing windows when my CD drive decided to crunch the CD and trash it.

So, anyone know where I can get a replacement for the Windows XP reinstallation disk that came with my Dell, as my PC is useless at the mo with only half an OS on it.

Also, whats the likelyhood of Dell replacing the disk as it was a hardware fault that caused it(assuming I'm still in warranty).

Thanks, Tim

    Call Dell and find out. What you might need first is a new cd drive.

    Curios.?
    Don't see how the CD Drive could affect the XP CD so what exactly to you mean by ;
    "crunch the CD and trash it."

    I mean that the drive just made a sort of crunching noise, on off for a few seconds. Now the CD has a ring etched into it and when it loads up, it crashes half way through install saying bad or damaged file.

    Timmy,

    Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
    From what you have described, it should be fully covered by your warranty.
    As "MarryG" pointed out, you will first need to get the drive replaced.
    At the same time tech support should be able to place an order to send you a new XP CD.
    Just contact support to setup the services.
    They will have to setup two different services, one to replace the drive, one to replace the cd.
