Windows XP SP2

I have been holding off upgrading from SP1 to SP2 due to the many issues I read about in the initial release.  As my machine just continues to hum away, there is no real need to upgrade. Now I have a program that requires XP SP2 to operate.  I am torn about making the change as things work so well now.  Any experience or advice on whether to take the plunge?

if you can hold out just a little longer, the whole OS will be obsolete.

just kidding - update to SP2. i have lots of machines running XPsp2 with no problems.

I too was hesitant to upgrade to SP2. I have not had any problems since installing.......now today I just received an update to sp3. Any ideas about this one? I am not going to upgrade until I head positive reinforcement......LOL

What Model is your PC? . . Be sure to read and follow these suggestions  You can also download the Full SP2 update, the full one seems to go much smoother than using Windows Update version.

    Rich:

I noticed the full version at the link you provided is for developers etc.  Is there a difference between that and the XP Home version I am running?  Thanks.

It works fine on individual sysems . . usually with less issues than the Windows Update version

I did the update, or tried to and after the files unloaded, I got an error message saying "Access Denied to SP2 setup".  Then a message saying the install failed.  I tried it again and the same thing.  Sent a message to MS Support to see what they can figure out.  I had all programs closed including my virus scanner and Zonealarm.  Oh well, at least it got me to do all the past updates first.....Thanks

That is often an indication that Microsoft has not validated your installation . . have you run the " Genuine Advantage Tool" . . it has been causing problems for some OEM installations lately, but there is a fix for Dells,
