Windows XP64 on Precision 690, need help
Hi,
I have a problem installing Windows XP64 on my Precision 690. I have a SAS drive (which came with my computer) and a SATA drive (I mount later). The system now (WinXP) boots from SAS drive. I want to have a dual boot Windows XP/XP64 until I see everything is OK before switching to XP64. What I have tried:
1. Slipstream the SAS driver into XP64. When boot, I get an error saying that there is a driver for 32 bit which does not work on XP64. It is about SAS driver for Windows 2000, which Dell included on the same package with driver for XP64, which is silly. I have tried many things to get rid of 32 bit driver, but did not succeed.
2. Made a floppy with SAS drive, boot XP64, load SAS drive and...surprise: the SATA drive is not seen.
3. Made a second floppy with SATA drive, boot XP64, say I have 2 floppy with drivers, but after SAS driver was loaded, the second floppy showed the same SAS driver, not the correct SATA. And, of course, the SATA drive was not seen later.
How can I install WinXP64 on SATA drive, when the boot drive is the SAS drive? Any help is really apreciated. The best way is to slipstream these drivers into WinXP64 boot CD.
Thank you
