XP wallpaper issues!!

I something up with my desktop background. I went to this website to look for some cool designs to use, and this one I clicked on showed up on my desktop as a little 2"X2" square.  I couldnt enlarge it so I just deleted it and moved on. But THEN.....thats when the problems started!:smileysurprised: I suddenly got this image of my ISP homepage as my background, but not the whole page was covered, just 3/4 of page. Then, it turned white!! So now I have my icons on the left with the normal background, and the rest of the page is white.  Ive done the obvious, like try to locate this and delete it, but with no success. Putting up a different background has not solved this.  How can I get rid of this? I couldnt do system restore because there was no option to set it back to right before this happened. My last restore date was a few days before that. Why cant I just pick any day to restore it to?? Thats a whole different question! Anyway, how can I get rid of this white page? And how do I delete backgrounds that are in the selection menu that automatically appeared there every time I save a picture to my pictures file? Why do they go into that menu?

Was this too complicated??? Good Lord, it seems like it!:smileyindifferent:

Sounds like you got highjacked.  The Experts on the Hijack This page can probably help you the best.

I dont think I was hijacked, necessarily. I mean, wouldnt I be getting more symptoms, like other weird things happening as far as with my browser or computer performance in general? Because Im not, its running perfectly. I checked out the HijackThis page, and Im thinking....it seems like you have to have that program installed to ask a question there, dont you? I dont have it, since Ive heard that its for more advanced users, not that Im clueless:smileyhappy: Im just not an expert, so I dont want to screw anything up. I think it was the way that I set up that background that did it. I guess I should go back to that site, and check out if I can "undo" whatever I did!

I had this happen to me a while ago. Why don't you just disable Web Content on your Active desktop? Or turn off Active Desktop completely? See if that works. Or maybe you can't do that with Windows XP......worked for me on my 2000!

Thanks but this issue has been resolved!! I just had to uncheck this option to view my homepage as my background. I dont know how it got that way!:smileyindifferent: I guess I will have to be careful when looking for new backgrounds, and make sure I dont mess it up.
