XPS 8900 2.8.0 BIOS
Has anyone installed this yet? If so, any issues? I did the 2.7.1 update via Windows Update as I had thought that would allow me to update to Win10 v2004 but it didn't. So far have not noticed any issues with the 2.7.1 BIOS but wanted to know if anyone had any with 2.8.0

This is disturbing, but it seems some computer manufacturers (HP, Dell, Lenovo) have been working with Microsoft to offer BIOS updates through the Windows 10 update service. Whereas BIOS updates were optional, now if they are offered through the Windows 10 update service they are no longer optional because through that service updates can only be deferred for a certain amount of time.

You can disable this in the BIOS. F2 BIOS setup -> security -> UEFI capsule firmware updates -> disable
I also think it may be possible to disable by setting Windows to not download driver updates but haven't thoroughly tested that.

That assumes your PC model has this option in BIOS setup.
The XPS 8930 seems to be the very first XPS model to offer this option. It's listed as a BIOS option in the Service Manual for XPS 8930, but is not listed in service manuals for XPS 8920, XPS 8910 or XPS 8900...

Not all BIOS has the feature to disable firmware updates.

2.7.1 doesn't show up in the earlier builds online, just 2.6.x. That is one of my peeves about the drivers page. I never can figure out what the latest drivers are for it as it doesn't always show them.
Anyway the OS updated to 2004 today and then I updated the BIOS to 2.8.0 and so far it is working. Interesting that Windows Update now shows some optional updates that I have not installed yet

Windows Update updated it to 2.7.1 which it did OK. Now I see that on the Dell drivers page there is a 2.8.0 (no mention of 2.7.1 there though)
