xps 15 does not start

there was a windows update day yesterday. i opted for update and restart. system comes up and complains about some bios issue. i opted to continue.

then, system is not booting. first, i press power button and fan runs and then nothing. it dies

after few times, fan also does not run anymore. nothing happens now.

only when i plug in cable and press power button, i see white light on power button comes for a second and goes away. there is no other activity.

when i unplug the power cable, pressing power button does not show any white light. look like battery has no juice and it is also not getting charged when i plug in power.

power cable led is white, it does not change color. just stay white all the time

i opened the back and unplugged battery and plugged power cable and tried the recycle following instructions from forum posts and that also resulted in nothing. i am clueless. what could have happened. it is a software issue because it happened right after windows update. why is system not booting at all

    1. Which XPS is it?

    2. Are you sure it was a Windows update and not an update from Dell? Were there any driver or BIOS updates included?

    3. If it was a Windows update, it may have been the new May 2020 upgrade? You should not be getting the regular monthly update until Tuesday or Wednesday.

    4. You could try the Dell Diagnostic tool by pressing F12 continuously as soon as you start the boot until the Boot Menu comes up, and then choose Diagnostics.

Windows 10 boot failure issues or errors should be fixed automatically via Startup Repair, you have to try this method first:

    1. Create a Windows PE bootable media or use Windows installation disc.

    2. Change the boot order in BIOS and boot your computer from the bootable media or installation disc.

    3. Press Next in Windows Setup window, and then choose Repair your computer option.

    4. Select Troubleshoot -> Advanced Options -> Startup Repair.
