Go to SolutionCelerra Replicator V2
Is Celerra Replicator V2 the best way to migrate from an NS502g to an NS40g if we're only using cifs shares there is no NFS on the existing box and there wont be any in the future? I have downloaded the PDF for using Celerra Rep V2, seems pretty straight forward. But I've also seen Cifs utilities out there. The plan was to replicate everything and eventually failover to the new NS. Should I be looking at other choices?

(unless you have to change the fs structure, like splitting or merging file systems)
its got the best performance, completeness and you dont have to worry about ACLs or files not being copied
Its also less work to do it and to monitor it
If your CIFS server(s) on the NS502g arent in a VDM yet consider moving them to a VDM - this way the complete CIFS config like shares, localgroups, netbios names and aliases also get replicated
If you have a Replicator license or can get one temporarily - dont look at other choices
Of course you still need to do the basic config on the NS40g like DNS, NTP, ...
As always (if you dont have EMC PS help) I suggest to try the migration with a small extra CIFS server and data file system on the NS502G first to make sure you have all the steps and config items
