This just shows how poorly educated the sales team really are on computer software rather they are only taught on how to sell laptops, and make money. As a student I was looking for a discount on the Alienware laptops, I am told by sales that yes we can sort all of this out for you. I explain to them that it will be the ALIENWARE 17 laptops I will be ordering, and so she explains she will go ahead to process the order. She never explained how this would go about, not at ANY point. I was told to put in all my card details in at that time, and so I had the idea this would be used to confirm my order. But however, she just went ahead and had the cheapest ALIENWARE 17 laptop ordered! If this sales person had any real knowledge of this laptop on sale, she would understand that there are 6 different bundles and that they can be customised also to fit your own specs. At this point I explained that this order should not have gone through and that it needs to be cancelled immediately. She explains she cannot as it is in Production- not true -I checked the status of the order and it was in Pre-Production. I mean it's only 10 min after the order so I don't know how this would be possible anyways. And so she declares that I must ring the the care team the following Monday as it was Friday. I now have to wait the whole weekend just to cancel an order that possibly may be shipped by then?! And she had the cheek to then ask, if I would like to order the right one!! I'm sorry but do they automatically think I'm a millionaire just casually buying over two grand worth of laptops. This experience has made me mentally feel sick, and this has been the worst experience of any cusomtomer help from any company I have dealt with.
Surprisingly man; I received many apologies from customer care when I rang on Tuesday (Monday they were closed in which i didn't know and was on the phone for over 2 hours listening to the same music!), they delt with me accordingly by filing a cancel oder notice for the laptop in which came through pretty quick. Should be receiving the refund by next week.
Unfortunately I do wish to purchase the AW 17r4 laptop however I think the order should go through much smoother this time seeing as I will be ordering it myself without the help of the sales team.
Thanks for your concern tho man! I just hope the laptop is delivered on time...
Unfortunately, this has been a far-too-common experience posted on this forum, as well as Reddit and Twitter.
Dell seems to have developed an obsession with mishandling orders, seemingly for the purpose of creating additional orders. There may be some sort of short-term benefit with this practice, but certainly has to hurt Dell's overall profits in the future.
Despite your best efforts, you will likely still receive the laptop you did not want. If so, do not open the box. Simply file for a return/refund. You will receive your refund up to 30 days after Dell has received the return. When you receive your refund, use the money to purchase a laptop elsewhere.
