WiFi Driver update fails

A recent check of the drivers for my laptop on the support page under its Service Tag showed several needed updating. All went through ok until the WiFi driver and Bios update. The WiFi driver install failed. I attempted to download it from the support site to try again but it just hangs and nothing downloads.

Double checking I noticed that the WiFi driver offered is for Intel 8265 but my Laptop Device Manager shows it to be Intel AC 3165?

What should I do?

Thank you for your message. I apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Did you get any notification on Dell Support Assist application to download the driver?

The driver is the same for 3165 & 8265 cards. Does the diver not download at all or does it not install?  Please try to update the driver from this link https://dell.to/2P9wKs4

Are you able to connect to the network with the present driver & what is the Wi-Fi driver version installed?  Also, check the BIOS version.

For my reference, please click on the message tab next to your avatar– click “New Message” & search for my Dell username (Dell-Sreejith R) & send a private message with the service tag, registered name & email address.

Yes I got a message to update and the WiFi driver and Bios updates failed, the rest were ok.

I subsequently tried a manual download using the site Download Manager, it just hung.

I then tried using the browser download and it succeeded. I updated the Bios ok.

Tried the WiFi driver and the Intel software ran but did not update as it said the existing software was more up to date.

Device Manager shows the existing driver is: 12/03/2018, 19.51.12.3

This driver is allowing me to network however I am getting occasional drop outs with the AC (5MHz) signal with my modem, which is newish, and I thought that it could be the driver.

The newest driver on the support page for your system is newer than what you installed. Have you gone to the following page and downloaded the driver dated 15 Oct 2018? The version is Version 20.60.0, A06.

That link takes me to the driver I tried. Trying to install it gives the 'newer installed' error:

    Still struggling!

Tried uninstalling the current driver and then installing the new one. Fails with the newer driver message.

Tried rebooting after uninstalling and same result, the old driver seems to automatically replace itself.

    What else can I try?

Has anyone else tried this successfully?  I have talked to Dell support twice, over an hour each time, they sill couldn't figure out how to get it to download.

Is the one below the one you're talking about finding a fix?

Let me know thanks in advance!

I have had the problem as well
I have had the error to for my for my Inspiration 17 7000 2in1 with a Intel Wireless AC 9560.
I have been following various online listed solutions with no degree of success, but am still looking. I'll keep a eye out.
