Are there any plans to upgrade hardware (in the nearest future) to the 4th generation Intel i7 processors? If yes, when can we await this upgrade approximately?
Barton, is there a rough release date? I'm currently trying to decide whether I should wait for the refreshed XPS 13 or go for a Lenovo machine (which historically run very Linux-friendly hardware).
Hey Barton, I assume there will be a big announcement? Will you also post a link here in the forums, or should we watch the tech blogs for updates? I'm hoping to be in the first few people to order. :-)
Barton, thanks for the info. I appreciate that you are sharing what you can. If you ever get asked for feedback from the marketing "geniuses", here are my thoughts for them:
Why is Dell botching the release for what can be the biggest laptop of the year? It is driving me nuts that Dell REFUSES to tell anybody *ANY* information on the release date for these laptops (not referring to just the DE of the XPS 13, this entire Haswell refresh in general). I don't care if it is Nov 30th, just give us a date! I know at least 3 people that were waiting to buy some of the Haswell base XPS laptops and take the lack of information as a sign that the laptops are never coming so they bought other laptops. It is amazingly frustrating to have a huge announcement and then not tell anybody any information for months after that. It really seems like Dell marketing is saying: "Hey. Wait. What is this Haswell stuff everybody is talking about? We should announce that we are doing it too. Oh yeah, and get those engineering guys to start working on it."
* mlorimer wanders off to look at the X240/T440s again......
