Della Quit Talking

I don't have a problem at present, thankfully. But the lady in the computer does not call me by name anymore. She still gives the time of day like "Good Morning", etc. I have this option selected in settings, but she still won't use my name .....sob!! Seriously though, how is this voice created? The greetings are obviously a stored file, but what is technology that allows this same voice, that does not sound "computer generated", to come up with my name? Does it come from the Web site, or should it be stored on the hard drive? Of course it is not a problem, I am just curious of how things work. Also, where can I go to learn about the animated signatures like Denny and Goodboy and others use? Am learning a lot from these forums and associated links...thanks.

    denverdan,

I can't help you with the lady in the computer, but for the signatures you can learn what you need from Denny's Delltalk Tutorials (link below my signature).

Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java.

Want to make a hyperlink in your post, want to add a graphic or sound file, need to troubleshoot a non-working Java applet, want to build an attractive signature? These capabilities can be yours if you visit Denny's DellT@lk Tutorials.
For help in deciding what can be eliminated from your Startup list, take a look here.
Want to get rid of Network Neighborhood, change your Registered Owner name? Check out the little utilities at Delltalk Tweekz.
Ready to sign up for Web server space? Want to learn FTP? Visit Web Presence for Beginners.
For new users (or veterans who would like to help a new user), a number of basic Windows tasks are illustrated in Denny's Tutorial Viewlets.

Note: I do not answer Instant Messages but I do answer email.

I'm not sure, but I think that information is stored on a cookie file. Did you recently delete your internet history including your cookies? You should be issued another one automatically. After a short while it should start saying your name again. Cookies also have an expiration date. Maybe you didn't delete it, it may have expired....
