Go to SolutionDimension 3000-Clock set error on boot up
I have an old dell dimension 3000 about 7 years old that someone gave me.
My problem is about 3 weeks ago I saw that each time the system booted up from being completely off it said it had to auto-detect my hardware and the clock needed to be reset in setup. If I got to setup and reset the clock in the bios it is fine until I shut it off all together. Does this mean the BIOS battery needs replacewment. If so how do I know what battery to buy. Is it a common one that I can buy at like Radio Shack by bringing in the battery?

Hi,
The problem is due to the CMOS battery not working properly.
You can get this battery from any computer shop. Just ask for CMOS battery for desktops.
