New 8300 received
Hello all,
I'm one of the lucky few to have ordered a 8300 with the 800MHz FSB and finally get delivery of it. I'm not extremely techno savvy, but I'd be happy to answer any questions I can if anyone is interested.
Here's a few FAQ's
- Yes the fan is a bit noisy but not all that bad. Besides with the kids screaming in the room who can hear a fan.
- I got the free upgrade to the 512 MB RAM and 2nd drive CD recorder
- Radeon 9800 non pro
- Haven't run benchmarks. Not sure how to or if I care to. Compared to my old XPS T-500 this is much faster and that's what mattered to me.
- After all rebates I was out the door for apprx 1300.00 w/o a monitor
Please, no replies with "I got a better computer than you did for a gazillion less dollars". I'm just offering to answer any questions someone might have before ordering a new system.

I too just got my 8300..
i was wondering, how do i check that i got the prossesor with the 800 fsb..
i also noticed that my dvd drive is very noisy...sounds like a airplane taking off, is this normal..

Hi, i got my 8300 monday.
You can check the speed in the BIOS, just press F2 after you switch it on...or click the system icon on the configuration page, you see the cpu-speed on the lower-right of the appearing window.
Have you checked the inside of the 8300, nice heatpipe CPU-cooler!
I'll put a Western-Digital Raptor as a boot disk in my 8300! (S-ATA 36,7Gb 10.000rpm 5.4ms)
