Optiplex 790 Mini Tower RAM
Hi Gang
I just bought a new 790 Mini Tower with 4 GB's RAM = #4 1GB Sticks. I have (on hand), one brand new 4GB Dell Certified single stick. Guess I need to take out a pair of 1GB's sticks, (that's 2 of them), and put the one 4GB stick in? Will that work? Or will I have to actually buy another single stick of 4GB, keeping them in pairs?
Thanx
Mike

Hi WWII Historian,
The OptiPlex 790 MT system supports up to 16 GB of memory with 64-bit enabled processor and 64-bit operating system. The memory speed supported is 1333MHz DDR3 memory.
Memory modules must be installed as a perfectly matched pair to take advantage of the dual-channel memory bus. If not a matched pair, the system's memory bus operates in a single-channel configuration.
If you want the best performance of the system then use 2 different 4GB memory sticks to make it 8GB when combined.
Please reply for further help.
