DELL HARD DISK CABLE VOSTRO V13
I bought a dell vostro v13 in March 2010 and it worked fine for one year and 15 days after my warrant expired, my system stopped working and when i switched it on it showed me an error message "OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND" and i fund that its not hard disk problem. his happened due to the delicate cable that connects hard disk, audio board and mother board. i replaced it twice and after few months usage same thing is repeated.
This is not a problem with the laptop or cable, the main reason is the way the cable is supported on the card reader which bends the cable and it stops working.
If any one in the community is facing the same problem please don't replace it better thing to do is buy another laptop instead of replacing the cable 4 to 5 times a year.
To dell please resolve this issue i am using dell brand since 10 years and never seen a product affected buy a same cable, please replace it with something reliable. I am not the only customer facing this problem, i know at least 25 dell customers who posted their problem on youtube and other communities who bought new laptop after replacing the cable for 3 or 4 times. i don't know if it is manufacturing defect or a means to make more money through repairs.
customers buy dell products because they are reliable and can be used for long time.

Dell cannot do anything. I have had 2 service reps and sent it to Dell always fixed then 3-4 months later same problem. What is really frustrating is the dell service techs on chat. They act suprised - they know you have a lemon - but do nothing.
I have been a loyal customer of Dell for 7 years - and now Apple - goodbye dell.
You can search on Google - Dell Vostro Cable issues - and up come utube videos that have been viewed thousands of times. Dell is well aware of the issue - but does nothing.

I cannot even begin to tell you how obtuse and dismissive Dell has been with me regarding this same issue. Like some of you have mentioned, I've also been a loyal Dell customer for nearly a decade, yet they have apparently resorted to using their offshore customer service model as a sort of gate-keeper between their customers with legitimate issues attributable to a well documented design flaw, and the company doing the right thing to help make it right. I too was pushed past the warranty window by what seems to be a sort of time-buying appeasement approach which accomplishes nothing long term besides what I consider theft by Dell.
Advertising a product, implying that it will function normally, taking money for that product when it would actually be exceptional if it didn't fail, is theft to me. I once bought what turned out to be a fake flash drive on ebay which was packaged as a legitimate Kingston product, but when it, of course, didn't function, I opened it and found what equated to a crayons-and-bubblegum mock up of an actual piece of usable equipment. The seller avoided me, trying to evade taking responsibility for it, but ebay stepped in and did the right thing. That is exactly what I consider to have happened here, except that in my view, Dell has hit-and-run. But I freakin promise you, they've done it for the last time.
But the great thing is that the consequences of this type of activity are self-imposing. Leave enough people feeling blown off and taken advantage of and for granted, and ultimately not only do you become a Hewlett Packard, but even having "Dell" on your resume is about as valuable having Penn State Athletic Department.
Goodbye, Dell.
I have the same problem with my Vostro V13. Sent it back to Dell and it was fixed. But three months later, the same problem again. Some suggested it was the cable that connects from the motherboard to the controller, and the part number is 42WW9, but I can not find it in Dell's website. May try it on eBay. I have had several Dell's in the past, but this is my last one. I bought a new laptop from Sumsung.
Goodby, Dell.
Here is a link to one that is up for sale (Buy It Now option)

Apple is amazing. I'm happy now.
I wasted all my time thinking it is the HDD, formatted the HDD ......
Finally I swapped the HDD with another laptop and realised it is the cable fault. I bought it just for $3.50 on ebay and it is now working perfect.
